Description
This car is an excellent driver.Since 2001, we have driven it about athousand miles most summers. To improve drivability and reliability, the notoriouslyunreliable Jaguar V12 was replaced with a rebuilt GM engine and transmission.
Thispowertrain was a no-modification fit, and has worked flawlessly.
Thework was done by a Corvette shop.
Edelbrock intake and carburetors wereadded, as were new ignition system and alternator.
Some of the wiring harnesses werereplaced. Battery is new.
Alsorebuilt were the radiator, power steering,
ball joints and other suspensionparts,
fuelsystem, front brake system, exhaust, fuel tank and driver seat belt.
Frontbrake pads were replaced for the second time in 2019.
Rear brakes measure out at 6 mm (new is 10mm).
So,they have some life left.
Body is solid.
Door, hood and deck lid close tightly.
Thereare new seals in area that are prone to water leaks.
The right floor pan was replaced.
Idid not see any rusted area that needed repair.
The paint is a pre-2000 respray.
The paint still looks good, but thereis a 1"X1” area on the driver side rear quarter where the respray has flaked and the original green visible.
Also, there is a shallow vertical crease just forward of the driver door.
Thishappened when the door was being reinstalled.
Items that still need attention are air conditioning and heating, radio, driver mirror remote, speedometer and tachometer.
Odometerread 43,350 in 2000 when it was disconnected. A new calibration gear at thetransmission end is required. Part is available at John’s Jaguar in Dallas.
Tach need recalibration from V12 to V8.
Also done by John’s cars.
Comes with shop manuals (4), US/UK parts catalogs, box of new partsincluding R-124 hoses and connectors/adapters, hydraulic jack, specialty tools, etc.
Overall, this has been a great car to drive.
Everyrepair and replacement has been targeted to improve functionality.
